Heed `Real World’ Uses and Exposures to PFAS, Advisers Urge EPA

The EPA should focus on how “forever chemicals” are made and used, as well as what communities are exposed to which mixtures, as it decides whether to group and regulate them, agency advisers said Tuesday.

The vast number of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS; the paucity of toxicity and other data for them; and the likelihood that new forms will continue to develop make it “imperative” that the Environmental Protection Agency address them as one or more groups, its Board of Scientific Counselors said.
